I have followed you on twitter & it is great to see you start a sub-stack blog. It will be interesting to see what direction this takes. I hope there is some Covid discussion because many medical/health professionals have left the scene, data is disappearing, and there is fewer and fewer “tools” by which to assess one’s risk. So the safest thing to do is N 95 everywhere. However, one starts to feel a bit crazy after while. Except with my own eyes, I am bearing witness to what @1goodtern terms “70’s becoming the new 90’s, with one after the other of my 70 yr old vaxed and relaxed friends all falling apart at the same time. As you have said FAFO but it it is not penetrating their consciousness.

Thank you for the kind words. For sure, longer covid related stuff will appear here (I have some research that is ongoing to document the impact of covid on kidney disease), but the information should flow in the main Social Media platforms (e.g. twitter).

The problem with this phase of the pandemic, is that the FAFO mostly concerns the development of chronic comorbidities, and as a physician specializing in the management of chronic kidney disease, chronic FAFO (cFAFO) does not penetrate until a catastrophic event has occured, e.g. one has lost a limb or worse. We are also in the same boat as you ("feel a bit crazy" about the N95), but I'd like to live to see my daughter through high school, college and to pay her back by spoiling her kids. So the mask will stay, until we get our heads from the proverbial asses through better vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics that are available to all at minimal cost.

Good to see you on Substack, Christos. Yes, things are a mess and will get much worse. The multiorgan complications already here and coming fast will increase the FAFO exponentially. Masks stay on until the better mitigations, etc, etc are widely implemented. Your good sense along with the world class snark and deep kale hatred are truly a joy to behold.
